Canned pumpkin
Canned pumpkin is a great way to relieve digestive issues, it’s high in fiber,
low in calories and fat.
It helps with simple diarrhea and constipation ! If your dog is vomiting or has bloody diarrhea,
or the pumpkin doesn’t help in a day or two, a trip to the vet is in order.
Make sure you buy the plain canned pumpkin, not the pumpkin pie mix ( pumpkin pie mix has sugar
and spices added ) Canned pumpkin will last
about a week in the refrigerator, but you can freeze the
extra pumpkin in ice cube trays and defrost them when you need them.
It is best if you start adding the canned pumpkin slowly, working up to the amount you need in order
to give your bulldog time to adjust to the added fiber.
For a small dog about ½ to 1 teaspoon 1 to 2 times a day, and for a
medium to large dog about
1 tablespoon 1 to 2 times a day. Don’t overdue it ! If you give too much it can actually cause diarrhea,
so easy does it.
Pumpkin is also high in vitamin A, and too much vitamin A can be toxic to dogs.
