Vaccinations

The American Animal Hospital Association( AHAA ) have revised how often and what vaccinations should be given.
Vaccinating every year does not boost immunity, antibodies from the prior vaccinations block further vaccinations from having any effect.
I personally do not vaccinate my bulldogs after the age of 5, except for rabies. Vaccinations are divided into two groups:

Core vaccinations Rabies
distemper
parvovirus

Non Core vaccinations
bordetella
leptospirosis
lyme
corona
giardia

Every dog should be vaccinated with the core vaccinations, and only given non- core vaccinations if your bulldog is at risk.

Rabies
Rabies vaccinations are usually given at 16 weeks, and then again 1 year later ( at 16 months of age ) Thereafter rabies vaccine is given every 3 years.

Distemper
Distemper vaccinations should be given at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and again at 16 weeks of age. Followed by a vaccination every 3 years.

Parvovirus
Parvo vaccinations should be given at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and again at 16 weeks of age. Followed by a vaccination every 3 years.

Bordetella
Bordetella vaccinations are non-core vaccinations and should be given if your bulldog is at risk ( you will be boarding your dog, showing, or using daycare for your dog ) I prefer the injectable vaccine, as the intranasal vaccine can give your bulldog kennel cough.

Leptospirosis
I do not like this vaccine at all ! So only have your veterinarian give lepto vaccine if you have lepto in your area. This vaccine can cause severe allergic reactions in some dogs.

Lyme
Lyme vaccine should only be used if you have lyme disease in your area. Lyme vaccine can cause polyarthritis, so use only if your veterinarian advises you too.

Corona
I call corona vaccine a vaccination looking for a disease ! Corona only affects puppies under 8 weeks of age, and is very rare.

Giardia
Studies of giardia vaccine do not prove this vaccine does anything. Even if your bulldog gets giardia, they are not immune to getting it again.
